This Southeast native cultivar is a wonderful additional to any native garden or garden with difficult growing conditions such as poor soils, clay soils or dry sites. In late-spring to early-summer, brilliant coral-red star-shaped flowers appear on 10-14" upright stems above narrow basal foliage. Grows best in full sun with afternoon shade alongside Chrysogonum virginianum and Iris cristata. Hummingbirds will take notice! Plant 12" apart.
