A hybrid of two eastern U.S. natives, S. ovata and S. serrata, 'Bumblebee Blues' will please the bees, of course, while also offering late spring-summer deep blue tubular flowers that are reminiscent of blue Salvia. The 18-24" height, blue flowers, and purple stems work well with Coreopsis, dwarf Joe Pye weed, Echinacea, and Schizachyrium in the full sun or part shade garden. Prefers moist well-drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Plant 24" apart. PPAF.
