Penstemon x digitalis 'Dark Towers' (Beardtongue)

Deep burgundy-red foliage in spring maintains its color into summer much better than ‘Husker Red’.  Light pink flowers appear on deep wine-red stems in early summer.  Leave the burgundy flower stems and seed heads uncut for late summer/fall interest.  Grows 36-42" tall.  Try with Schizachyrium ‘Standing Ovation’ and Vernonia ‘Iron Butterfly’.  Plant 24" apart.
