A ground cover unlike any other, with heart-shaped leaves that are tinged red-bronze on the edges, Barrenwort performs as its name implies. It is the best ground cover for dry shade needing a good loamy soil. The semi-evergreen foliage is 9" tall and develops clusters of red starry flowers with white spurs in May close to the leaves. Lovely planted among trees in woodland setting. Cut back any untidy foliage in late winter. Try it with Pulmonaria, Carex, and blue-leaved Hostas such as 'Blue Cadet'.

This plant came bundled up so caringly. I wish I took a video or picture. It had a collar of springy woven stick mesh… idk but it was around the stems of the plant to protect the stems. Like it had a little puffy coat for the trip. Then it was packed so well into a plant shipping tube (like I’ve gotten from other nurseries) and with perfect amount of crunched up paper around it to keep it snug. The plant itself looked absolutely amazing when I opened it. And no broken stems! Will def order from there again.

Outstanding
I have to say, I’m usually disappointed by planting material I order. So, my expectations were particularly low. These two plants not only arrived so incredibly well packed, they were placed in a very large box that had enough cushion as to not move! They arrived healthy and individually protected with material around the stems, so the plants had no broken or bent leaves. Also, they are quite large for this size pot.
