Caryopteris 'First Choice' (Blue Beard)

This compact form of Caryopteris has deep inky-blue buds that open to large cobalt-blue flowers, which are profuse on erect stems from late August to early October.  Best of all, the rounded compact habit means ‘First Choice’ requires little pruning and won't have the floppy habit some cultivars exhibit.  Pest and disease-free, it reaches about 36" at maturity.
