This is a clump forming native meadow grass which grows 2-5' tall. The green leaves and stems turn dark reddish-purple and then bright copper in late fall. In winter, the fine hairs of the expanded racemes catch the sunlight. This grass is the linchpin of any prairie restoration.

Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun

We can not ship to following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA and HI. Plants will be in seasonal condition with appropriate foliage.

Seasonal Plant Notice: During the colder months (typically November through March), many perennials naturally enter dormancy and may arrive with little to no visible foliage. This is a normal part of their growth cycle. If you have questions about a plant's current condition, please reach out using the contact form below.

We carefully schedule shipments to ensure your plants spend as little time in transit as possible. Most orders ship via UPS Monday through Wednesday, directly from our greenhouses. For nearby destinations, we may occasionally ship Thursday or Friday when delivery is expected before the weekend. Orders that would otherwise remain in transit over the weekend will be held until the following shipping week.

Each plant is carefully wrapped in protective brown paper and packed with excelsior wood wool, a biodegradable material made from thin fibers of aspen wood. This eco-friendly packaging helps keep your plants secure during transit while being kind to the environment.

★★★★★
Plant came exactly as described, and in beautiful condition. Everything was packaged well that no damage at all could have occurred during shipping! I've had it in the ground for about a month now, and it's growing beautifully. Can't wait to see it bloom!
