Wood’s sedge has a similar appearance to C. pensylvanica, with a denser habit that serves to suppress weeds more effectively. Fine-textured 6-12” tall and wide foliage slowly spreads by rhizomes in the moist, well-drained, woodland or light shade garden. Seed heads appear in April-May. Plant 12" apart.

A pretty sedge

This was a new sedge to me, and its nickname, pretty sedge, does it justice. It’s a beautiful blue-green when emerging, which contrasts beautifully with the paler green sedges such as eastern star sedge. Also, the plants were shipped promptly and arrived in perfect condition. They’re thriving in my little backyard woodland. I will order from Perennial Farm Market again.
