This spectacular native is a delight to Hummingbirds and quite showy when massed on the woodland’s edge or in the lightly shaded border. 18-24” tall foliage holds narrow tubular upward-facing flowers of bright red with yellow centers in early summer. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Late to emerge in spring so take care not to over-plant.
