A North American native wetland species, soft-stemmed bulrush is found growing in inland shallow waters such as lake shores and stream banks, as well as fresh or brackish marshes.  6-8' tall triangular stems are dark green and hold brown inflorescences from spring to fall.  Plant 36" apart.
