Aquilegia canadensis 'Little Lanterns'

Wild Columbine

Classic red flowers with yellow corollas bloom in May and June, but this North American native is short and sweet at 10". A wild Columbine that makes an excellent shade garden naturalizer. 'Little Lanterns' prefers well-drained average to rich soil, and can as easily star in containers or rock gardens. Try it with Phlox stolonifera 'Blue Ridge' or divaricata 'London Grove' and Dicentra 'Aurora'.
